California law permits parties to hire a “privately compensated judge”, instead of the Superior Court judge to which the case has been assigned. Certain high income clients find this method of handling their case provides significant advantages. Specifically, since the party or parties are paying for the time of the private judge, the judge has the ability to devote his/her full and undivided attention to a particular case. There is more flexibility and speed in scheduling hearings and/or trials. There is a less public forum for testimony. With a private judge, the parties and their counsel have the ability to select a particular judicial officer who is experienced in family law cases.

The Law Offices of Beatrice L. Snider, APC is familiar with the procedure and has handled numerous cases where privately compensated judges have been appointed.
